Men’s Section

The competitions have been coming thick and fast lately with the Easter Weekend just gone, the roll call of honour is as follows:

The April Medal: in a Tiger-like comeback, in his first competition of the year, Steve Cooper won the Medal with  nett 68, beating Kevin Imber on countback. Colin Francis should have been in the mix, but signed for a nett 69, instead of a 68!

The Jimmy Little Trophy: Andy Ferguson was the winner with a fantastic score of 77 gross, nett 66.

Easter Stableford: Mick Silvester was the winner with 38 points on the Saturday, Vijay Patel was a close runner up with 37 points on Sunday.

Congratulations to all the winners.

The Jubilee Flag: The winner of the Jubilee Flag competition on Easter Monday was Gary Rumbold. Both Gary Rumbold and Tom Tang managed to reach the 19th hole with 1 shot remaining. Gary the Bash hit the fairway outdriving Tom, to win the Flag competition. Great playing both of them, and well done to Gary Rumbold.

Both Gary & Tom can score very well on their handicaps, and it will disappoint many of you to know that the Jubilee Flag is a non-qualifying competition so there is no change to their handicaps!

The Men’s Penfold team managed a narrow 2 matches to 1 victory over Upchurch at home yesterday, we have accrued 5 match points and only dropped the one match in our two league fixtures so far, so we are off to a strong start.

There is an entry sheet for the Shire Bowl on the Men’s notice board downstairs, please add your name and pay a deposit or the full amount to secure your place. The closing date for entries is 27th May.

Next up is the May Medal on Saturday & Sunday this weekend, the sun should be out so it will be good to see what scores you can achieve.

Good luck.

Nigel.
